Air Top 2000 ST Heater Spare Parts
The Air Top 2000 series of Webasto air heaters is a popular range of diesel heaters for smaller boats and camper vans, which has evolved over the years into a series of different models – from the original Air Top 2000, through the Air Top 2000S to the Air Top 2000 ST and the current model, the Air Top 2000 STC.
The general principle and operation of the heaters hasn’t changed throughout the life of the Air Top 2000 range, although the model has undergone various tweaks over the years to improve efficiency, performance and reliability.
The Air Top 2000S, for example, has a smaller casing and diagnostic compatibility, while the Air Top 2000 ST has a dual glowpin/flame sensor, a sealed ECU, and zero speed fan idle. The current model, the Air Top 2000 STC boasts the new DP42 fuel pump and W-bus compatibility.
There is a variety of different models for different markets, including marine, RV and vehicle, all programmed differently to best suit the required operation in the relevant application.
Common Replacement Parts for the Air Top 2000 ST
The heaters in the Air Top 2000 series basically consist of:
- Combustion & Heating Air Fan (Drive Assembly)
- Heat Exchanger
- Burner Insert with Combustion Tube
- Control Unit (ECU)
- Flame Sensor
- Glow Plug
- Temperature Limiter
- Temperature Sensor
JPC Direct are registered agents for Webasto in the East of England, and we supply a full range of these spare parts for all Webasto heaters, including the Air Top 2000 series. You can find more details on these below.
Air Top 2000ST Drive Assembly
The drive assembly consists of the drive motor, the combustion air fan, the heat air blower and the intake casing.
The combustion air fan supplies the air required for the combustion process from the combustion air inlet to the burner insert.
The removable hot air blower transports the hot air from the hot air inlet via the heat exchanger to the hot air outlet
Air Top 2000ST Heat Exchanger
The heat exchanger conducts the heat provided by combustion to the air delivered by the combustion and heating air fan.
Air Top 2000ST Burner and Burner Cartridge
Within the burner, fuel is distributed in the combustion tube across the burner cross-section. In the combustion tube, the combustion of the fuel/air mixture takes place, heating up the heat exchanger. Faults with the burner may be caused by coking up, low voltage, poor fuel and heavy usage.
Air Top 2000ST Control Unit (ECU)
The control unit is the central component for ensuring the function is maintained and for monitoring the heater’s operation. A temperature sensor in the control unit is designed to control the room temperature. An external temperature sensor may also be connected to all the heaters.
Air Top 2000ST Flame Sensor
The flame sensor is the low-Ohm PTC resistor, which changes its resistance dependent on its heating by the flame. The signals are routed to the control unit for processing. The flame sensor monitors the flame operating condition over the complete duration of the heater operation.
Air Top 2000ST Glow Plug
The glow plug ignites the fuel/air mixture at the start of the air heater operation. The glow plug is acting as an electrical resistor and is located in the burner insert opposed to the flame side. A potential fault with the glow plug is being blocked by carbon on the burner.
Metering Pump
The metering pump is a combined supply, dosing and shut-off system for the fuel supply of the heater out of the vehicle’s fuel tank.
The most widely found faults across the entire Air Top range are voltage, and fuel starvation.
You can order all of the above parts for the full Air Top 2000 range.
